Man, these olympics are messing me up. We have stayed up late every night and I am missing my sleep. First, we start watching the swimming along with everyone else in America. Donna got into it big time. Will liked it as well. We would sit and cheer on the USA. Did it not make you proud as America won medal after medal? USA, USA, USA!!!
Well. when the swimming finished I thought maybe we would get back to our routine. Nope. We moved right into gymnastics, track/field and vollyeball. Yes, I am partial to the ladies volleyball. Nice uniforms.
It has been fun. Hey, is just me or did you guys think the China gym team had a few 10 year olds? Seriously, are they that stupid to think no one would notice that the kids were missing their front teeth? Ok, maybe not that young, but no way were they 16.
I guess I must move on. Mens volleyball. 3rd set and we are going for gold. USA, USA, USA!!!

Kiwanis Fishing

I am member of several civic groups. One is the Kiwanis Club. We work to make life better for children. Our local clubs concentrates on our local kids needs. We have many events. In Sept we host a golf tournament that raises $15k for a local kids home. One other event we host this time of year is a back to school fish outing. We stock a city owned pond at the airport with catfish and invite children and their parents to come out. Food, drinks and fun are all FREE.
Will came by to check on dad. He didn't get there until around 10ish, so the sun had come up and it was hot. The fish had slowed biting by this time, but we still had fun. We didn't catch a single fish, but Will got to real a couple in on other folks lines. He has caught many fish before, so he wasn't too disappointed.
Nothing like having my boy out there with me. Just dad and son for a little while. It was awesome.
The Brown's at the B'ham Barons Game

Last Saturday night we went to the Barons baseball game. We enjoyed the Chattanooga Lookouts game when we were in Chattanooga a few months ago, so we decided to go see them play the Barons. My sister and her family, my brother and his family and my parents joined Donna, Will and I for the evening. It was great!
Our seats were 13 rows up behind the Lookouts dugout. Good seats thanks to brother-in-law, John. We were in the action.
Well, we had not hardly mentioned that we need to be heads up for foul balls when one came out way. It hit the dugout and a chair which shot it directly in our direction. Will was standing up in the aisle at the time beside me. My dad was in the seat in front of me. There was about 2 feet between Will and Pop. The ball came right for us. I reached in between them and snagged the foul. It was a soft line drive and was easy to catch. It made for a good moment. Will loved it! Of course, I jumped up trying to get the crowd to chear my snag. I don't think too many did, but to my little boy I was "the man."
I have said it before, but I love my limited free time. We spend that time together as a family and there nothing like it on this earth. I thank God for my wife and little boy. Hopefully, we are creating memories he will have forever.
I have a couple of pics below from the night. Pay attention to my baseball.
