More Monster Trucks!

We are still into monster trucks. Will is collecting them (along with Paw Paw). He keeps finding one that he doesn't have, so between and his paw paw they usually find it soon. We may regular trips to our Walmart. It is apparent that Will is not the only kid collecting, because these things don't stay on the shelf long.
Oh, you ask what we did with the hundreds of Cars movie character cars, well we still have them as well. Will goes in cycles on what he plays with around the house. Hey that's ok. If I can buy a $3 car/monster truck and make him happy then that seems pretty cheap to me.
I just wonder how I can convince his mother that a $3 gift is great? If you have suggestions, please let me know.

Sunday - March 22, 2009

Yep, that is Will and his buddy, Luke. Luke lives across the street and spends most every Sunday afternoon with us playing outside. Today was great! The weather was wonderful, so we decided to hit the trails for a hike.
We have alot of woods around our house, so we decided to get a little exercise. Just as soon as we hit the woods we saw deer. In addition to the deer we were able to see squirrels, birds, and other wildlife.
Great day to be in Gods outdoors.
I can't wait until summer.
P.S. We did not see a snake.

Kiwanis Crappie Tournament

Saturday was the annual Kiwanis Crappie Tournament. I had the pleasure of getting up at 4am and heading to Pickensville, Al. I had to stop by our church to get ice and then head down to help register entrants. We had 37 +/- boats and fortunately most had pre-registered. Everything went smoothly (only its was about 34 degrees at 6a.m).
I came home once I had finished my early duties. However, at about 1p me, Will and Donna headed back down for the weigh-in. I was able to get there in time to help cook burgers and Will helped draw names for door prizes.
We were joined at the weigh-in by Paw-Paw and his friend, AC. They have come down in the past and were able to grab a free burger and t-shirt.
Kiwanis is a great civic group. Our goal is better the lives of children not only here at home, but around the world.
For the record, 19.99 lbs won the tournament and the big fish weighed in at 2.18lbs.

Face in the Window - Carrollton, Al

On Saturday, Me, Will and mom were in Carrollton, Al. Will had never seen the "Face in the Window" at the Carrollton courthouse. Legend has it that a man named Wells had burned down the courthouse and was being held on charges. On this particular night a mob had come to get him as he watched out window. Lightning struck and caused Mr. Wells image to appear in the window. The legend continues that over the years (this event occurred in 1878) every time the window was broken and replaced the image re-appeared.
Will thought it was cool. We got out and took a close look. I explained that I can remember as a kid my parents taking me and my siblings to Carrollton to look at the face. I thought we would pass on the tradition to Will.
If you are ever in Pickens County, please take the time and go by Carrollton and see the "face."

Sunday Snow - March 1, 2009

Snow had fallen this morning when we woke up. I had been up from 3a-5a and just a minor little dusting. I got to sleep and wake up at 7. 1 1/2 inches. Just enough to have a little fun at the Brown house.
We have neighbors that own land with a large lake behind our house. Large old hardwood trees. It looked beautiful. Really cool! Donna, Will, me, Buzz and CoCo went on the hike.
When we got back to the neighborhood Will had to do a snow angel. Of course, he did this in the neighbors yard. They had better snow.
Just another beautiful winter.......................I mean spring day here in Alabama.
Merry Christmas to you all (well, it looks like Christmas with all the snow).
