Christ is Alive! - Easter 2009

Wow, what a wonderful Easter 2009 the Brown's had. We were able to sneak off (we told our church family at Southside Baptist) and go to church with my folks at our home church, Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Northport, Al. It was great seeing everyone and visiting with many people that we love and have known for years. Fayette is our home, but it is always nice to make it back "home" to visit friends and family.
After church we were able to go over to my folks and enjoy moms Sunday lunch with an afternoon of fun. The kids had a great time hiding eggs (prize eggs containing $). Young and old had a part in the activity.
You know, where did these "prize" eggs come from. When we were little there were no $ eggs. Heck, I think we actually borrowed real eggs from the store and returned them after hunting. Ok, maybe not, but we sure didn't have a $5 egg. Hey, I wanted to find those, but if you were not a grandkid you were not allowed.
After spending time with the Brown clan we made it over to Donna's grandmothers and was able to visit with her mom, sister, grandmother, etc.... PawPaw came up last night to have dinner with us since we were not going to make it out to Coker today. We even were able to drop by Aunt Molly's and drop off a little Easter gift. Wow, what a day.
You know, me, Donna and Will always seem to pack alot into our weekends. Spending time with family and friends is our idea of fun. Boy, the weekend goes quickly.
As fun as today was it wouldn't have the meaning if it wasn't for the gift of Christ. Aren't we lucky that we have a God that loves us so much that he sent his only Son to die for our sins. Isn't is awesome that the didn't stay dead and rose on day 3 to prove to the world that God can do all things.
We have a saying around our house that, "God can do...........ANYTHING!"
He can. He loves you and me so much that through Jesus we can have eternal life with him.
I encourage you not to miss the real reason for Easter. It is not the eggs or the bunny. It is not even the family. It is salvation found in the risen Savior and that is truly an awesome thing.

Blue Angels!

This past Saturday we headed down to T-town for the Blue Angels. It was absolutely great. We parked at my brothers office (Turner&Schoel HVAC). Great location right next to the airport. Several of the ladies that worked for him had set up a tail-gating type atmosphere and alot of folks were there. What fun!!!!!
I know the photos are not that great, but I took them with my phone. Too fast for me to get up close, but I can tell you they flew right above us. Will and I were spinning trying to follow all the action.
As you can see in the photos me and Will hung out with Uncle Tony (my brother). Most of the other folks were down near the railroad tracks, but we stayed up in the parking lot. Less people and just as good of view. Will enjoyed being around uncle Tony.
Tuscaloosa/Northport was buzzing this day. I don't know the official count, but the paper was estimating 100,000 would show. Based on our experience with football Saturdays I would say that would be close. Hey, we even got lucky witht he traffic.
Another good Saturday as a family. I know I have mentioned it before, but I look forward to my Sats and Suns.

A Man's Job!

Yes, it says Fitting Room. That's right, I went shopping with the wife. It was important because we were shopping for her summer bikini. Well, swimsuit. If I didn't go it would be the old kind with leggings under a skirt. You remember the photos from the 1950's? Donna would try to pull that out on me if I let her. Not this year. Not at my pool. Bikini. Yes, as she told me, I do know she is not 18 anymore. I reminded her that she is not 82 either.
A compromise was met and it looks like we got closer to what I wanted than her. So, if you have a chance to stop by the pool this summer ( especially if you are one of my buddies) you can thank me for the cute little 2 piece. If you are offended by the skin, I am sorry. Also, you are not welcome back at my pool. Just kidding!
Summer is in the air.
